Police officers responded to a single-vehicle crash at around 2:30 a.m. on Sunday morning that left a 25-year-old man dead. A pickup truck driver traveling north failed to slow while navigating a curve, lost control of his vehicle and struck a concrete pole. The driver was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.
As officials investigated this incident, 40-year-old Richard Allen Castle drove his vehicle into the empty police cruiser parked to block oncoming traffic.
Nobody sustained injuries in the second crash, according to The Eagle. Castle refused to partake in a field sobriety test at the scene and resisted arrest. Castle faces charges of driving while intoxicated and resisting arrest.
