Electrolux Recalls Kenmore Elite Ranges

Electrolux recalled the line of Kenmore Elite dual fuel ranges that are sold exclusively at Sears.

These ranges cause fire and burn hazards because the burner flames can go out while the gas is still turned on.  Gas can then escape without any notice, filling the air with dangerous levels of gas throughout the home.

Carbon Monoxide Poisoning

The recalled gas ranges emit a toxic gas known as carbon monoxide.

According to US Consumer Product Safety Commission, “Carbon monoxide (CO) is a colorless, odorless, poisonous gas.  You can’t taste, see or smell CO, but it can kill in just minutes.”

As stated in the recall, if the gas switch is left on without the burner flames ignited, fatal levels of carbon monoxide will be released into the air.
