Hearth & Home Technologies Recalls Wood Stoves after Crushed Fingers Reported

Hearth & Home Technologies is issuing a recall on approximately 650 Quadra Fire Explorer III wood stoves due to an injury risk posed by the lid of the stove.

About the Hearth & Home Technologies Wood Stove Recall

According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), the top lid of the Quadra Fire wood burning stove can become disengaged from the locked position. The lid can unexpectedly slam shut, posing a crush injury risk for users.

Hearth & Home Technologies has received five reports of the lid slamming shut, including two reports of minor finger injuries.

Consumers are urged to stop using the recalled units immediately. Hearth & Home Technologies is providing free repair kits to consumers and reaching out to all known purchasers.

Description of the Recalled Wood Stoves

The Quadra Fire Explorer III is a cast iron wood stove with a top loading lid. The stove comes in a variety of colors, including black, mahogany, dark blue, and frost colors.

The recalled units have serial numbers in the following range:

  • 00706300001-00706300941

The model name and serial numbers are located on the back of the stove. The recalled wood stoves were sold at Fireside Hearth & Home stores and Hearth & Home Technologies independent dealers between February 2015 and August 2016.
