Hillsdale Furniture Recalls Children’s Bunk Beds Due to Fall Hazard

Hillsdale Furniture has specifically recalled Chadwick bunk beds. According to the U.S Consumer Product Safety Commission (USCPSC), the firm has reportedly received reports of bed support rails cracking or breaking.

Incidents/Injuries Reported

Hillsdale Furniture has received approximately 650 reports of bed support rails cracking or breaking. Reported incidents include the collapse of the upper or bottom bunk bed, which resulted in some consumers physically falling from the bunk bed.

Eight injuries to children and adults, which include bruising, lacerations requiring the administration of stitches and one upper arm fracture.

USCPSC have advised consumers to discontinue the use of the bunk beds and contact Hillsdale Furniture to arrange a free installation of free replacement rails by Bob’s Discount Furniture.

Description of the Recalled Hillsdale Bunk Beds

U.S Consumer Product Safety Commission provides the following information:

  • This recall involves wooden Chadwick bunk beds. These bunk beds were sold in white (model 1030), mission oak (models 1245 and 1589) and in a twin over full combination.
  • Product was manufactured in Vietnam and the model number is visible on a label affixed to the inside of the bed rail or footboard.
  • This was exclusively sold at Bob’s Discount Furniture stores nationwide and online at www.MyBobs.com from August 2010 to July 2014 for approximately $400
