Idaho Factory Worker Killed in Forklift Accident
According to KTVB, a worker died from injuries sustained during an industrial accident involving a forklift at the Sorrento Lactalis cheese factory in Nampa, Idaho.
Death has been Ruled an Accident
Dennis Carl Marsh Jr., 41, was crushed between the forklift and a shelving unit at the warehouse. Marsh was rushed to the hospital in serious condition but did not survive his injuries. The coroner, according to KTVB, listed the cause of death as severe crushing injuries.
The Lactalis American Group has launched an investigation into the happenings of the accident. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) is also conducting an investigation of Marsh’s death.
The accident occurred around 7:30 a.m. local time, reports KTVB.
On the Job Accident Statistics
According to OSHA:
- 4,821 workers were killed on the job in 2014.
- On average, more than 92 workers are killed every week, or 13 deaths per day.
- Worker deaths in America are down on average, from about 39 worker deaths per day in 1970 to 13 a day in 2014.
