The San Marcos Mercury reports a Kyle teen died Monday from injuries he sustained when he was struck by pickup truck while walking along FM 2001 in the Niederwald city limits.
Officials are now seeking assistance from the public in identifying the driver responsible for the teen’s death who fled from the scene of the accident.
According to a spokesperson from the Texas Department of Public Safety, the victim was identified as 15 year-old Michael Mince of Kyle.
Authorities are searching for a Dodge pickup with possible front edge damage; however, its model and color along with the description of the driver are still unknown.
The incident occurred at 7:52PM on Monday evening. Mince had left the Valero gas station located at the intersection of FM 2001 and Texas 21 and was headed west on foot walking along FM 2001 when he was struck from behind by a pickup truck.
The incident is currently under investigation by the DPS and asks anyone with information to contact DPS Crime Stoppers at 800-2528477 or the Hays County Sheriff’s Office at 512-393-7800.
