Details of the Oklahoma Trucking Accident Lawsuit

According to KXII, two lawsuits were filed in Tarrant County against Quickway Carriers and the 55-year-old driver of the semi, Russell Wayne Staley. Staley does reside in Tarrant County.

One lawsuit was filed on October 3 by Frank L. Branson, a Dallas law firm, on the behalf of Rachel Hitt. Hitt, a 19-year-old softball player, was hospitalized as a result of the accident.

The Branson law firm says that Quickway Carriers was “negligent in its hiring, training and supervision of Staley prior to accident.” The suit is demanding a release of relevant evidence to the accident, which could include Staley’s employee records.

A combined effort from a McKinney and Dallas law firm filed the second lawsuit. This lawsuit was prompted by Charles and Jennifer Deckard, parents of Brooke Deckard; who lost her life at 20 years of age in the accident.

The lawsuit on Deckard’s behalf is for wrongful death and damages such as loss of companionship, mental anguish, and loss of inheritance.

Quickway Carriers and Staley have not commented on the lawsuits.
