Lubbock Man Killed After Touching Live Power Line While Trimming Trees
A man has was tragically killed in Lubbock, Texas after making contact with a high voltage power line while trimming trees.
About the Fatal Accident
Bobby Phillips, 46, has been identified as the man who passed away after a “tragic accident” involving a utility line.
Emergency crews initially responded to reports of an electrocuted man stuck in a bucket truck at about 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the intersection of 58th Street and Indiana Avenue in Lubbock. The man was contracted by a private company not affiliated with the City of Lubbock.
Lubbock Power & Light spokesman Matt Rose reminds us, “Electricity is a live element. It’s unpredictable and it can cause grave bodily injury or sometimes cause death.”

- They report over 1,700 deaths from contact with power lines from 2003-2010
- In total, 42,882 electric-related deaths were reported from 2003-210
