According to the Salisbury Post, a Thomasville man has been charged with driving while intoxicated after he was involved in two different collisions in different Rowan County towns.
Christopher Boles of Thomasville allegedly tried to flee the scene of an accident that occurred on U.S. 52 in Rockwell just before being involved in another collision with a train in China Grove. According to the Salisbury Post, no one was injured in either incident.
State Trooper Robert Charubini said that Boles would be charged with reckless driving, driving with an open container of alcohol, and for driving while intoxicated.
Once responders arrived at the scene in China Grove, Boles’ vehicle, a U-Haul truck, was found on the gravel embankment next to the railroad tracks. A train that was passing on the railroad tracks ripped off a large portion of the U-Haul truck’s front grille.
According to State Trooper Charubini, Boles tried to cross the railroad tracks through an I-85 service road to Ethel Lane behind Johnson’s Restaurant, where there was no designated railroad crossing.
Boles told state troopers he was driving from Greensboro, according to state troopers who responded to the scene.
