Man Killed After Hit by DART Train
According to CBSDFW.com, a accident occurred in Dallas between a DART train and a pedestrian on September 19th, 2016. The accident resulted in one death.
Details of the Fatal Train Accident
The crash occurred after 6:00 A.M. between the Lake Highlands train station and the LBJ/Skillman train station.
The officials and Dallas Area Rapid Transit investigating the crash state that initial reports indicate the pedestrian was trying to beat the train when he ran across the track. The pedestrian was announced dead at the scene after being struck by the train.
There have been no reported injuries of passengers on the train at the time of the accident.
DART had a bus shuttle running between the two train stations until the police cleared the scene.

According to the Accident Data Center:
- In the US each year, about 300 people die in accidents that are train related.
- A portion of these deaths are suicides, but many are purely accidental.
- Pedestrians trying to hitchhike onto a moving train often results in grievous injury or death.
