Canadian home heating company Miles Industries is recalling more than 1,000 Valor H5 gas fireplaces due to a burn hazard.
According to the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), the trim around the Valor H5 gas fireplace can leak hot exhaust air, which could lead to home damage and burn injuries.
There have been no documented injuries. But Miles Industries did receive a report of damage to a fireplace mantle as a result of the defective trim.
The affected fireplaces were sold at the following stores between June 2014 and March 2018:

Miles Industries is offering a free repair for all affected fireplaces.
The Hearth, Patio & Barbecue Association (HPBA) recommends that all gas fireplace owners allow their appliance to cool down before touching glass plates or metal trim.
