Motorcyclist Seriously Injured in Corpus Christi Hit-and-Run
A woman is in the hospital in serious condition after a hit-and-run driver struck her motorcycle.
Details of the Hit-and-Run
The motorcycle accident in San Antonio occurred just before midnight last Saturday at the intersection of Pickwell and Devon on the southeast side.
The motorcycle, carrying two passengers, was at a stop sign when it was hit by a car, knocking off the woman.
The woman, who was not wearing a helmet, was taken to San Antonio Military Medical Center with head trauma.
The passenger on the motorcycle was not hurt and the driver of the car fled the scene.
Motorcycle Accident Statistics
- In 2012, 4,957 motorcyclists were killed in motor vehicle traffic crashes – an increase of 7 percent from the 4,630 motorcyclists killed in 2011.
- There were 93,000 motorcyclists injured during 2012, a 15-percent increase from 81,000 in 2011.
- Per vehicle mile traveled, motorcyclists were more than 26 times more likely than passenger car occupants to die in a traffic crash.
