Motorist Loses Arm After Crash with Distracted Driver

According to the San Antonio Express-News, a man was seriously injured in a crash involving a distracted driver on a phone in Conroe, Texas, on Tuesday.

Investigation ongoing; No Charges Filed

The injury accident occurred on FM 2854 near Ponderosa Drive at around 4:00 p.m. A 60-year-old man driving westbound stopped to turn onto Ponderosa Drive when he was hit by a car from behind.

Officials say the driver of the car was distracted by a cell phone, reports the San Antonio Express-News. The crash forced the 60-year-old man’s car into an eastbound pickup truck, causing him to be thrown from his vehicle and lose an arm in the process.

According to the San Antonio Express-News, the victim had an open warrant for his arrest due to a missed court date stemming from a previous charge of driving with a suspended license. The Texas Department of Public Safety is currently investigating the accident. No charges have been filed thus far.
