One Man Dead in Accident Involving Deer and Tractor-Trailer

According to WBFF, a man in a disabled vehicle died after being struck by an 18-wheeler in West Friendship, Maryland, early Saturday morning.

Details of the Fatal Accident

Police responded to an accident on Interstate 70 near Route 32 at around 4:30 a.m. local time. The driver of a Nissan Altima traveled westbound on the interstate when he struck a deer. His car was inoperable following the wreck with the deer.

Shortly after, a semi-truck crashed into the car from behind, ejecting the driver from his vehicle. The 18-wheeler and the Nissan Altima ended up in a ditch off the highway, according to WBFF.

The driver, 48-year-old John Trippe died at the scene of the crash. WBFF reports that the semi-truck driver did not sustain any injuries in the wreck.

Police say no charges have been filed and that the investigation is still ongoing.
