One Woman Dead, Three Others Injured in Head-on Crash
According to The Daily Times, a collision involving three vehicles in Maryville, Tennessee, left a woman dead and three others injured on Wednesday afternoon.
Details of the Fatal Accident
Police say Edward Stephenson, 29, traveled northbound on Robert C. Jackson Drive when he attempted to pass another vehicle. During the pass attempt, Stephenson traveled into the southbound lanes and into oncoming traffic, striking another vehicle head-on.
The collision between the two vehicles sent Stephenson’s SUV back into the northbound lanes, crashing into the car he just tried to pass. The Daily Times reports that all three vehicles sustained significant damage in the collision.
Trinity Wallace, 43, the driver of the vehicle first hit by Stephenson, died in the crash after being airlifted to University of Tennessee Hospital. A 14-year-old passenger in Wallace’s vehicle received treatment at UT Hospital. Stephenson and a 22-year-old passenger suffered from injuries and received treatment at Blount Memorial Hospital and UT Hospital, respectively.
Ryan McKenzie, the driver of the third vehicle, did not receive injuries in the crash. The investigation into the circumstances of the wreck are still ongoing, according to The Daily Times.
