Paramedic Killed, Another Injured After Ambulance Crashes into 18-Wheeler

One paramedic is dead and another was hospitalized with serious injuries following a crash near Greenville involving an 18-wheeler and an ambulance.

Details of the Greenville Trucking Accident

According to CBS-DFW, the crash happened shortly before 7:00 pm Wednesday on U.S. Highway 69 just north of Greenville.

Authorities say a tractor-trailer was backing out of a private drive onto the highway when a UT East Texas Health System ambulance struck the side of the semi, ending up underneath the truck. Reports indicate the ambulance was unable to avoid the 18-wheeler.

The driver of the ambulance, 42-year-old David Eads, was pronounced dead at the scene. The other paramedic was flown to a Tyler hospital in serious but stable condition.

No patients were in the ambulance at the time of the collision.

A citation was issued to the driver of the semi. The crash remains under investigation.
