Pedestrian Struck and Killed by Car involved in Street Race

According to WTVR, a pedestrian was fatally injured in a crash involving a car that was street racing in Chesterfield County, Virginia, on Saturday night.

Details of Fatal Pedestrian Accident

Jacinto Lopez Marcos, 37, was walking along the Midlothian Turnpike when the fatal wreck occurred. At around 11:45 p.m. local time in the 7500 block, Marcos attempted to cross the road when he was hit by a car.

WTVR reports that Marcos was taken to Chippenham Hospital for treatment but would die from injuries on Sunday. Officials say the driver, a 17-year-old male, stayed at the scene of the accident and was uninjured.

Police believe the driver and another 17-year-old male were racing east on the turnpike when the pedestrian was struck. According to WTVR, the driver has been charged with racing and causing death or injury to another person. The other driver involved in the street race was also charged with misdemeanor racing. The fatal crash remains under investigation.
