Police Suspect Alcohol a Factor in Dallas Pedestrian Accident
Dallas police have arrested a suspected drunk driver on intoxication manslaughter charges following a fatal pedestrian accident that occurred near the American Airlines Center Friday night.
About the Fatal Pedestrian Accident
Fox 4 News reports that husband and wife CJ and Lauren Davis, both 26, were walking to a Mavericks basketball game when they were struck and killed at the intersection of Moody Street and Harry Hines Boulevard.
Friends of the victims said the young couple was celebrating CJ’s 26th birthday when the fatal accident occurred.
The driver involved, identified as Kevin Christman, was arrested and has been charged with intoxication manslaughter.
Additional information concerning the accident was not immediately available.

- The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) recorded 3,408 traffic-related deaths in 2013, roughly one death every 2 hours and 34 minutes.
- Of those deaths, 777 were associated with collisions that occurred at or in connection with an intersection, and pedestrian fatalities totaled 493.
- Alcohol was a factor in 31 percent of all traffic fatalities recorded in Texas in 2013, accounting for 1,053 deaths.
- An additional 232,599 people were injured in auto accidents in Texas in 2013.
