Precision Shooting Recalls Crossbows

Precision Shooting Equipment has issued an immediate recall for 2,800 TAC Elite, TAC Ordnance and Enigma crossbows sold nationwide at various dealers including Bass Pro Shops, Cabela’s, Kinsey’s Archery and Pape’s Inc. or online at PSE-archery.com.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is advising consumers to immediately stop using n the crossbows because the product can fire an arrow unexpectedly without pulling the trigger, causing possible injury to the user or nearby individuals.

Precision Shooting Crossbow Recall Information
  • Recalled units were by Precision Shooting Equipment through authorized dealers for $600 to $1,500 from June 2013 through November 2013.
  • The product can fire an arrow without the trigger being pulled, which poses an injury hazard to the user and bystanders.
  • Recall for: TAC Elite crossbows with serial numbers 2097056 through 2134901, TAC Ordnance crossbows with serial numbers 2121938 through 2133384 and all Enigma crossbows. Serial numbers for the TAC Elite and TAC Ordnance are engraved directly above the handgrip.
  • The PSE logo and the model name are on an emblem mounted above the trigger housing on the left side of the crossbow.
  • Consumers should immediately stop using the crossbows and return them to Precision Shooting Equipment for a free repair.

Description of the Recalled Crossbows

Information below provided by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC):

  • This recall involves Precision Shooting Equipment’s TAC Elite, TAC Ordnance and Enigma crossbows.
  • The PSE TAC Elite and TAC Ordnance crossbows are black with a 22-inch wide bow with split limbs made of fiberglass. Both the TAC Elite and TAC Ordnance crossbows come with a bipod, a scope and three arrows.
  • The TAC Elite crossbow has an aluminum rail, a pistol grip and an M-4 carbine style adjustable stock that allows the crossbow length to be extended from 41.5 inches to 45 inches.
  • The PSE TAC Ordnance crossbow does not have a trigger housing or a stock. This bow is 34.75 inches long with aluminum rails.
  • The Enigma crossbow is camouflage with a 20-inch wide bow with a black stirrup attached to the front and split limbs made of fiberglass. The crossbow comes with a scope, a side-mounted quiver, a sling and a cocking rope.
  • The Enigma crossbow has aluminum rails, a pistol grip and a rifle style stock. This bow also has an adjustable butt plate that allows the crossbow length to be extended from 40.5 inches to 44.75 inches.
  • Cam pulleys are mounted between the upper and lower halves of both limbs on all recalled crossbows.
