Recall Recap: Baby Safety Month Edition

In recognition of Baby Safety Month, we would like to remind parents and guardians of the following open recalls impacting infant products.

Pacifier Clips Recall

  • Items Recalled: Toys ‘R’ Us Pacifier Clips
  • # of Units Recalled: 50,000
  • Problem: Pacifier clips contain a spring mechanism prone to malfunctioning and releasing small parts that could cause a choking hazard for children.
  • Resolution: Refrain from using the recalled pacifier clips and return the product to Toys ‘R’ Us or Babies ‘R’ Us for a refund.
  • Additional Information: The pacifier clips come in an assortment of six different colors and character designs which are a red monster, blue monster, monkey, giraffe, an owl with one eye closed, and an owl with both eyes open.

Infant Play Sets Recall

  • Items Recalled: Baby Builder Sets
  • # of Units Recalled: 91,000
  • Problem: The infant play set contains small parts that can detach, which poses a choking hazard for young children.
  • Resolution: Contact ALEX Toys for a prepaid shipping envelope to return the recalled product. Upon confirmation of product return, ALEX Toys will provide a full refund.
  • Additional Information: The pieces of the play sets come in stackable plastic jars and are sold in sets of 14 or 26 pieces, and the containers of the First Snaps sets have  batch codes on a sticker above the UPC code. A list of the recalled batches can be found here.
Combi Car Seat Recall
  • Items Recalled: Combi Car Seats
  • # of Units Recalled: 39,000
  • Problem: Car seats can transmit too much force to the chest of a child during a crash, which is a significant risk for injury.
  • Resolution: Combi will notify owners and send them a cover for the bottom of the seat that reduces the force on the child’s chest.
  • Additional Information: The recall covers certain Coccoro Convertible Child Restraints with the model number 8220. These recalled units were manufactured from January 1, 2009 to June 29, 2016.
Child Safety Gates Recall
  • Items Recalled: Ikea safety gates and safety gate extensions
  • Problem: Child safety gates can open unexpectedly, which poses a fall hazard to children and others.
  • Resolution: Return the product immediately for a full refund.
  • Additional Information: IKEA has received 55 reports of incidents worldwide, including 10 injuries that resulted in two concussions. Four of the incidents were reported in the U.S.
Baby Strollers Recall
  • Items Recalled: Dorel Juvenile Step and Go Baby Strollers
  • # of Units Recalled: 20,000
  • Problem: Strollers’ tray folding mechanism can cause the car seat to detach and fall from the stroller, creating a fall hazard to children.
  • Resolution: Discontinue use of the strollers immediately and contact Safety 1st for a free repair.
  • Additional Information: The strollers were sold in a variety of colors in with the OnBoard 35 infant car seat. The model number TR314 is printed on a white label stitched to the back of the stroller seat.
