Salmonella Risk: Quaker Expands Granola Bar Recall
According to USA Today, the Quaker Oats Company has expanded its ongoing recall of products potentially contaminated with salmonella to include the Quaker Chewy Dipps Llama Rama 6-count granola bars. This marks the third expansion of the initial recall issued in December 2023, raising concerns about the scope of the contamination.
Products Impacted
- Quaker Chewy Dipps Llama Rama 6-count granola bars with best before dates of February 10th or 11th, 2024.
- Important Note: This product was discontinued in September 2023. However, if you still have it in your pantry, do not consume it.
Previous Recalls
- December 15, 2023: Initial recall primarily targeted granola bars and cereals.
- January 11, 2024: Recall expanded to include additional granola bars, cereals, snack mixes, and Cap’N Crunch products.
Health Risks
Salmonella is a bacteria that can cause serious illness, including diarrhea, fever, and stomach cramps. Young children, older adults, and individuals with weakened immune systems are especially vulnerable to severe complications.
Actions to Take
- Immediately check your pantry for the affected Quaker Chewy Dipps Llama Rama 6-count granola bars.
- Do not consume the recalled product. Discard it or return it to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.
- Visit the Quaker recall website for a complete list of affected products and additional information.
