Authorities have arrested 37-year-old Gabriel Ramos in connection with a fatal hit-and-run in San Antonio that occurred in February. Documents suggest this is not Ramos’ first run-in with the law.
According to KSAT, the fatal crash occurred on February 22 on the Northeast Side of San Antonio.
Motorist Giovanna Eguia-Rodriguez, 33, was fatally injured when her vehicle was struck at the intersection Uhr Lane and Bell Road. Authorities believe Ramos was behind the wheel of the second vehicle.
An investigation revealed that the vehicle that struck Rodriguez’s vehicle was speeding and ran a stop sign. DNA left on the second vehicles’ airbag was traced back to Ramos. Ramos was booked early Friday morning on a charge of failure to stop and render aid in a death.
Documents released to the press show that Ramos was arrested on three separate occasions, in January 1999, January 2014 and August 2014, for driving while intoxicated. The January 1999 and August 2014 arrests were dismissed in court.
