Senoia Woman Killed in Tractor Trailer Accident

A woman from Senoia died on Monday after her SUV was hit by a tractor-trailer.

Details about the Fatal Accident Involving the Senoia Woman

The Newnan Times-Herald is reporting that a woman from Senoia died on Monday after her SUV was hit by a tractor trailer that was hauling a motor grader.

The accident happened at about 5:15 in the morning, when the driver of a Ford Explorer was heading north on Old Highway 85 in Senoia and hit the rear axle on the passenger side of a tractor-trailer that was heading east on Highway 16.

The impact caused the tractor-trailer to jackknife and lose its load, according to a trooper from the Georgia State Highway Patrol.

Another vehicle that was heading west on Highway 16 swerved out of the way to avoid hitting the truck and ran the car into a ditch. The driver of that vehicle was taken to Piedmont Newman hospital for pain in the back and neck but was later released.

80-year-old Sara Stevens, the driver of the SUV was taken to Grady Hospital where she later died from her injuries.

The driver of the 18-wheeler was not harmed in the accident, and the road was cleared by 11 a.m. The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
