Teenager Dies Following Corpus Christi Motorcycle Accident
A 15-year-old girl has died from injuries sustained during a motorcycle accident in Corpus Christi early Saturday morning.
Details of the Fatal Motorcycle Accident
According to KRIS News, the fatal accident occurred just after midnight on the 1800 block of Ocean Drive, between Naples Street and Del Mar in Corpus Christi, Texas.
Preliminary reports indicate the operator of the motorcycle, Clay Moore, 22, was speeding when he struck a curb and lost control of the vehicles. Both Moore and his 15-year-old passenger, Shina Cuevas, were thrown from the vehicle.
Moore was wearing a helmet at the time of the incident; however, Cuevas was not – she was transported to Spohn Memorial Hospital with severe head injuries. Unfortunately, Cuevas later succumbed to her injures.
Police are still investigating the incident and report Moore was driving with an expired license. Moore could face charges for the accident.

The following information was provided by the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT):
- 3,408 people were killed in auto accidents in Texas in 2013 – a .26-percent decrease from the 3,417 deaths recorded in 2012.
- Motorcycles accidents were responsible for 503 deaths in 2013.
- Data indicates 53-percent of motorcyclists killed in crashes in 2013 were not wearing helmets at the time of the crash.
