A spokesperson for the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) confirmed that three adults and a toddler were killed by a car that veered onto the wrong side of the road.
KXAN reported that the accident occurred in Fayette County, Texas around 11:47 a.m. on June 25th, 2017. The accident involved a 2009 Hyundai Sonata that was traveling westbound on SH 159 and veered into the eastbound lanes where it hit a 2000 GMC Sierra pickup.
The passengers in the Hyundai Sonata included Sherry Williams, 26, who was driving, DeMarkkus Johnson, 25, and a three-year-old girl who was not identified by DPS. All three died at the scene of the accident.
The pickup driver, Juan Benavidez, 48, was taken to Dell Seton Medical Center where he died of his injuries. The two passengers, Joshua Benavidez, 21, and Jared Benavidez, 16, were both taken to Dell Seton Medical Center in stable condition.
It is not expected that charges will be filed, seeing that the wrong-way driver is deceased.
