Vehicle Crashes Into Pedestrian – Man Left in Critical Condition
A man is left in critical condition after he was struck by a vehicle on the Northwest Side of San Antonio.
Incident Details
According to KSAT, the incident happened at 4 a.m. in the 25200 block of Boerne Stage Road, east of Scenic Loop Road.
While traveling on Boerne Stage Road, a driver claimed to have collided with what he believed to be an old trash bag. Upon stopping and inspecting his vehicle for damages, he realized that he had actually run over a person lying on the road. The driver stayed at the scene and called 911 for assistance. The injured individual, a 34-year-old man, was transported to a hospital in critical condition. As of now, the driver has not been charged with any offenses.
According to the Texas Department of Transportation, based on reportable crashes in 2022:
- 1 person was killed every 1 hour 57 minutes
- 1 person was injured every 2 minutes 9 seconds
- 1 reportable crash occurred every 57 seconds
- 244,092 total persons were injured in motor vehicle traffic crashes.
- There were 484 people killed in crashes involving distracted driving. This is an 11.01% increase from 2021.
- There were no deathless days on Texas roadways in 2022.
