Woman Killed, 3-Year-Old Daughter Injured in Multi-Vehicle Wreck

According to WSOC, a 40-year-old woman and her 3-year-old daughter were less than a mile from their home when a pickup truck crashed into their car, causing fatal and critical injuries.

Details of the Fatal Crash

Dana Knox and her daughter, Avery, were stopped on Sam Furr Road waiting to turn onto Westmoreland Road on Thursday morning. A pickup truck slammed into the Knox’s car, pushing it into oncoming traffic in the opposite lane where the mother and daughter were struck by a cargo van.

According to WSOC, Dana Knox died at the scene of the accident. Her daughter Avery survived the wreck, but sustained several broken bones and traumatic head injuries. Avery received treatment at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte on Thursday.

Knox’s fiancé, and the father of her daughter, says the two were on their way to day care when the accident occurred.

The drivers of the pickup truck and cargo van received treatment at a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, reports WSOC. Officials are continuing to investigate the circumstances of the crash.
