According to KSLA, a woman was killed after being hit by a car while assisting with a motorist who ran out of gas on the highway in Shreveport, Louisiana, on Tuesday morning.
Dana Carver, 37, stopped to assist 33-year-old Jason Gonzales with his vehicle, which had ran out of gas on the shoulder of Interstate 20. As Carver assisted with putting gas in Gonzales’ truck, she was hit by a vehicle driving westbound at around 1:45 a.m. local time. The fatal accident occurred near the Hearne Avenue exit.
KSLA reports that Gonzales attempted first aid on the injured pedestrian, but Carver would die from her injuries. Gonzales said he was unable to get a good look at the truck that struck her.
Police arrested Gonzales at the scene of the accident for two previous warrants, theft of a vehicle, and resisting an officer, which occurred at the scene. Gonzales received treatment at University Health for minor injuries suffered in the hit-and-run collision.
