100,000+ Office Chairs Recalled due to Injury Risk
Staples has recalled around 124,000 units of the Hazen Mesh Task chairs due to the fact that the legs of the chairs have been known to break and cause injury.
About the Staples Office Chair Recall
The Hazen Mesh Task chairs are being recalled because the legs on the chairs can break and cause people to fall out of them, and the chairs have already caused several injuries.
The United Sates Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) states that there have been 20 reports of legs breaking on the chairs and that three of those incidents have led to injury. The chairs included in the recall were sold between October 2014 and April 2017 and were sold both online and in-store.
Suggested Consumer Action
Consumers are advised to immediately stop using the chairs and contact Staples. Once the company has been contacted, those who have purchased the defective chairs will receive a repair kit to replace the base of their chair with a new one. All of the replacement parts and instructions will be free of charge to those that require them.
