5,760 Cases of Carpi Sun Recalled for Contamination with Cleaning Solution
A recall has been issued for 5,760 cases of Capri Sun Wild Cherry due to possible contamination. Kraft Heinz identified a cleaning solution as the contaminant.
Details of the Capri Sun Recall
According to CNN, the company did not disclose the number of individual pouches to be covered in the recall, but based on the number of cases included with the recall it is estimated that roughly 230,000 pouches are affected.
In a statement, Kraft Heinz said a cleaning solution used to treat equipment at its food processing facilities was “inadvertently introduced into a production line” at one of the factories.” Unfortunately, the issue was not identified until the company received multiple consumer complaints about the products’ taste.
The chemicals used in the cleaning solution were not named in the company’s statement nor did the statement advise what possible adverse effects, if any, consumers should look out for.
How to Identify the Recalled Capri Sun Wild Cherry Products
The recall only affects Wild Cherry flavored Capri Sun products with a “Best When Used By” date of June 25, 2023.
UPC on the case will be 087684001004. UPC on individual pouches will be 876840040900.
Cases containing the recalled products will have a Carton Code in the format of 25JUN2023 WXX #### CT1404. #### for recalled products will be between 07333 and 1000. XX may be 01, 02, or 03 on recalled products.
If you are looking at individual pouches, look for the Manufacture Code. Format will be 25JUNE2023 WXX LYY ####. #### for recalled pouches will be between 0733 and 0900. XX will be 01, 02, 03, 04, 09, or 10. YY may be any number between 01 and 12.
