Austin Construction Site Explosion Leaves 3 Workers Injured

A water pipe explosion ripped through an Austin construction site, injuring several workers, some with potentially life-threatening injuries.

Incident Details

According to kvue abc, three workers were injured, one critically, following the water pipe explosion at a construction site near Braker Lane on Tuesday, January 30th. The incident occurred around 1:15 p.m. in the 10400 block of North FM 973.

Authorities confirmed the explosion happened while workers were cutting the pipe. One worker was airlifted to Dell Seton Medical Center with serious, potentially life-threatening injuries. Two others sustained serious, non-life-threatening injuries.

Manor ESD No. 12 and Travis County EMS responded to the scene, and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has opened an official investigation.
