Driver Arrested After Fleeing Scene of Fatal Oak Cliff Crash

Dallas police arrested a driver suspected of causing a fatal crash in Oak Cliff Friday afternoon. The crash resulted in the death of a 16-year-old girl.

About the Fatal Oak Cliff Crash

According to The Dallas Morning News, the crash occurred around 5:30 pm Friday when the driver of a black Lexus SUV lost control and struck a gray Oldsmobile minivan.

The impact of the initial collision forced the minivan hit a curb before striking a utility pole and two trees. A 16-year-old girl riding in the van’s backseat was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital. A woman in the minivan was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the SUV did not stop at the scene and was later detained at a gas station several miles away. Police suspect the driver was also speeding when they lost control and caused the crash.

The name of the driver was not released, but police did say charges were pending.
