Driver Charged with Manslaughter After Grand Prairie Crash
Grand Prairie police arrested 18-year-old Ernesto Esqueda following a fatal crash on Sunday afternoon.
Details of the Fatal Grand Prairie Crash
WFAA reports the fatal crash occurred on Sunday around 1:40 pm.
Police say Esqueda, of Dallas, was traveling eastbound on Jefferson Street when he crashed into a Ford SUV that was turning from westbound Jefferson Street onto Southeast 2nd Street.
The driver of the SUV, the sole occupant of the vehicle, was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. Esqueda was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Surveillance video from a nearby business showed Esqueda travelling at a high rate of speed before the crash. Police arrested Esqueda for manslaughter.
The identity of the victim was not immediately available, pending notification of next of kin.
