Driver Faces DUI Charges after Crashing into a Car and Fleeing the Scene

According to Bakersfield Now, a driver faces DUI charges after crashing into another car at an intersection and fleeing from the scene in Bakersfield, California, on Thursday morning.

Details of the Drunk Driving Crash

Esteban Valdez Gutierrez, 34, was driving on Calloway Drive at around 8:00 a.m. local time when he drove through a red light. Gutierrez smashed into a car in the intersection, causing the female driver moderate to major injuries.

Bakersfield Now reports that Gutierrez and the female passenger in his pickup truck ran from the scene following the injury accident. Police were able to apprehend Gutierrez soon after, but they were unable to locate the passenger.

Gutierrez faces charges of hit-and-run and DUI causing injury, reports Bakersfield Now.
