2 Children Killed, Several Severely Hurt in Go-Kart Wreck

About the Fatal Kaufman County Go-Kart Incident
A SUV struck into a go-kart on Saturday, November 21 around 12:30 p.m. in College Mound, Kaufman County. Emergency services and firefighters were alerted to FM2727 and County Road 167.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, officials believed the go-kart was driving westbound on County Road 167. The SUV was driving south before striking the kart. A total of six kids were riding on the go-kart. Two were killed in the incident while the other four have been hospitalized.
A 7-year-old passed away at the scene while another 12-year-old passed away at the hospital. The names of the children have not been released. The name of the driver has not been revealed yet either. No charges have been issued out yet as current investigation is underway.

- More than 10,000 go-kart injuries to children 15 and younger occur each year.
- Injuries resulted from collisions with stationary objects, moving vehicles, or losing control of the go-kart and rolling over.
