Police Search for Driver that Killed 2 Bicyclists

Authorities are searching for a driver they say fled the scene of an accident that killed two bicyclists in Brookshire.

About the Brookshire Hit-and-Run

According to KEYE-TV, the crash occurred Saturday afternoon in Brookshire, about 40 miles west of Houston.

The details of the crash are still under investigation, but police say the driver exited his vehicle after the crash and fled on foot.

The driver is described as having light skin and being between 5 foot 10 inches and 6 feet in height. He was wearing military fatigues, long dark pants, and a tan or green backpack at the time of the crash.

He may have also have had a black German Shepherd with him.

  • 3,531 traffic-related fatalities were recorded in Texas in 2015. This marked little charge from the 3,536 deaths recorded in 2014.
  • Of the fatalities recorded in 2015, 1,925 were recorded in rural areas of the state.
  • An additional 246,335 people were injured in auto accidents in Texas in 2015 with 17,011 people suffering serious injuries.
  • Based on reportable crash data for 2015, TxDOT estimates:
    • One person was killed in a traffic accident in Texas every 2 hours and 29 minutes.
    • One person was injured every 2 minutes and 8 seconds.
    • A reportable crash occurred every 61 seconds.
