Trader Joe’s – Rocks and Insects Contamination

Trader Joe’s food products contaminated with foreign materials.

According to Forbes,

Trader Joe’s “Fully Cooked Falafel,” “Almond Windmill Cookies” and “Dark Chocolate Chunk and Almond Cookies” may contain rocks, while the store’s “Unexpected Broccoli Cheddar Soup” may contain insects. 

All affected products have been removed from shelves and the company urges customers to discard of any units on hand.

It is unknown how or during which part of the packaging process the contamination occurred.

Food recalls have been steadily increasing year after year, with 2022 seeing a 10 year high in the amount of recalled food. 

The most common reason for food recalls involve contamination with foreign materials. 

Between 2021 and 2022, the number of food recalls increased by 700%.
