Two Small Children Survive as Fatal Crash Leads to the Death of their Mother

A mother of two who was driving her kids in far Southeast Oklahoma City died in a single-car wreck which made her car slammed into a power pole.

Details of the Oklahoma City Crash

KFOR the single wreck crash occurred on SE 104th on Peebly Road and led to the death of a mother of two children. According to Sergeant Mark Sexton of the Oklahoma City Police Department, the vehicle was driving southbound on South Peebly Road around 7:48 a.m. when the car suddenly lost control without any reason.

Sexton continued his narration, saying that the car drove off the roadway by the west side of the road. It then returned to the road, over-corrected, then plunged into a utility pole.

The impact made the pole split in half, and the mother was killed instantly. Her two children, a boy, 1, and a girl, 7, were trapped in the vehicle. Officials report that the children were in the flipped car, hanging upside down.

Due to the presence of alive power lines on the SUV, responders were unable to get the children quickly out of the car; however, they were ultimately able to extricate both from the vehicle.

As the emergency responders rushed the children to Children’s Hospital, they reportedly heard the 7-year-old girl calling for her deceased mother. The children were listed in critical condition.

Cause of Fatal Accident Currently Unknown

The police have not been able to pinpoint the cause of the crash; however, Sexton says that the crash was most likely to be due to distraction. Nevertheless, there is no certainty in that hypothesis.

The identity of the victims has not been released
