Woman, 57, Killed in Crash involving a Box Truck
According to KOIN, a 57-year-old woman died from injuries after her car was hit by a truck on the interstate near Cottage Grove, Oregon, on Tuesday afternoon.
Details of the Fatal Trucking Crash
Janine B. Cook, 57, was driving her car south on Interstate 5 in the slow lane when it all of a sudden came to a complete stop near milepost 171. A box truck coming from behind rear-ended Cook’s vehicle at around 1:00 p.m. local time.
KOIN reports that the box truck attempted to avoid the woman’s car but was unable to. Emergency crews found Cook’s mangled car off the interstate and pronounced her dead at the scene.
The driver of the box truck did not sustain injuries in the crash, reports KOIN. Investigators are unsure what caused the woman’s car to come to a full stop in the slow lanes of the interstate.
