Zuru recalls over 7 million Baby Shark Bath Toys. Consumers are urged to stop using the toys immediately.
About the Zuru Baby Shark Toy Recall
The bath toys were intended to make bath time fun, but what occurred was quite the opposite. The toys sing and swim when placed in water, but come equipped with a hard plastic fin on the topside. When in use, a child could slip and fall onto the toy’s fin, causing risks of lacerations, impalements, and punctures.
There have been twelve reported injuries, nine requiring the injured child to receive medical attention and stitches.
Description of the Recalled Bath Toys
The following information was provided by the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC):
- Model numbers “#25282,” “#7163,” “#7175,” “#7166,” and “#25291” have all been listed as “Recalled.”
- The bigger-sized models were sold from May 2019-March 2023 and retailed between $13-$15.
- The smaller-sized models were sold from July 2020-June 2023, and those retailed for anywhere between $6 to $20.
- Products were sold at Walmart, CVS, Dollar General, H-E-B, Target, and Walgreens, among other retailers.
- About 7.5 Million units were recalled in total.
