A chain of collisions were reported early December 20 after a suspected drunk driver rear-ended a police officer’s vehicle.
Pertaining to a News 4 SA report, a highly intoxicated driver was the source of a multiple car crash early Sunday, December 20. Reports suggest an officer had parked their vehicle on highway I-35 to attend to another parked car. Suddenly, a speeding driver rammed into the rear of the officer’s car. The swift impact flipped the officer’s car out of control and into oncoming traffic. A pickup truck then crashed into the out of control vehicle.
Two officers standing near the police car had to quickly hop over the highway guardrails to avoid injuries. The initial car that caused the crashes, a sedan, held two people who did not face severe injuries. The two people inside the pickup were also not seriously hurt. A man driving the sedan has been issued a potential DWI.
