Man Killed in Head-On Truck Accident Outside Corpus Christi
A man is dead following a head-on collision with a tractor-trailer in San Patricio County Monday evening.
Details of the Fatal San Patricio Crash
KRIS-TV reports the crash occurred around 7:45 pm on US 77 about three miles northeast of Sinton.
A preliminary investigation suggests the victim, identified as 39-year-old Timetao Martinez, Jr., was traveling south on US 77 in a Dodge Ram 1500 towing a homemade trailer. One of the tires on the trailer blew out, causing Martinez to lose control.
Martinez cross the center line into the northbound lanes of traffic where he crashed head-on into an 18-wheeler. Martinez pickup went airborne and went off the highway.
Martinez was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the tractor-trailer was transported to CHRISTUS Spohn Shoreline Hospital in Corpus Christi.
The accident remains under investigation.
