One Dead in Fiery Dallas Tollway Crash
One person is dead following a fiery crash along the Dallas North Tollway on Wednesday.
Details of the Dallas North Tollway
According to FOX 4 News, at least five vehicles were involved in the crash. Police say traffic was slowing down for construction near Walnut Hill Lane when a Mercedes Benz failed to a slow and slammed into the back of two pickups and two cars.
At least one vehicle caught fire following the crash. One person was rushed to Parkland Hospital where they later died. It is not clear which vehicle the decedent was riding in.
The crash occurred around 10 pm, and traffic on the tollway was delayed for about six hours. The crash remains under investigation.

- Alcohol was determined to be a factor in 987 traffic deaths, accounting for roughly 26% of all Texas traffic fatalities.
- An additional 264,076 people were injured in auto accidents in Texas in 2016.
- Based on reportable data for 2016, TxDOT estimates:
- One person was killed in a traffic accident every 2 hours and 20 minutes.
- One person was injured every 1 minute and 59 seconds.
- A reportable crash occurred every 57 seconds.
