Texas Rangers Investigate Deadly Crash Involving Mannor PD Officer

Texas Rangers are investigating a fatal crash in which a Manor police officer struck and killed a male pedestrian.

Details of the Manor Pedestrian Accident

According to FOX 7, the fatal crash occurred in the westbound lanes of US 290 near Gregg Manor Road at around 1 a.m.

Early reports indicate the officer was driving westbound when they struck an adult man walking in the road. The officer stopped and provided lifesaving measures, but the pedestrian died at the scene.

Manor Police Chief Ryan Phipps claimed the officer did not have enough time to avoid hitting the pedestrian. Police who responded to the crash claimed they smelled and found alcohol at the scene.

It has not been confirmed if the man was intoxicated.

The patrol car’s dashcam was active, and Phipps indicated that it did capture the crash.

The Travis County Sheriff’s Office and Texas Department of Public Safety are cooperating on the crash investigation as the Texas Ranger conducts a separate investigation into the officer’s involvement.
