Two Dead, Two Injured in Head-On Collision in Southwest San Antonio
Two women are dead and two others are injured as a result of a two-vehicle collision on San Antonio’s Southwest Side.
About the Fatal Head-On Crash
According to KSAT, the fatal crash occurred Saturday afternoon in the 12000 block of Fischer Road.
Preliminary reports state a car carrying Amanda Vega, 32, and Julissa Bocanegra, 14, drifted across the centerline of the road and into the path of a pickup. The path was unable to avoid the pickup and struck the vehicle head-on.
Vega and Bocanegra were killed in the crash. Two others were transported to the hospital, though reports were unclear on which vehicle the two were occupants of.
The crash remains under investigation and additional details are suspected to be released as they become available.

- Alcohol was determined to be a factor in 987 traffic deaths, accounting for roughly 26% of all Texas traffic fatalities.
- An additional 264,076 people were injured in auto accidents in Texas in 2016.
- Based on reportable data for 2016, TxDOT estimates:
- One person was killed in a traffic accident every 2 hours and 20 minutes.
- One person was injured every 1 minute and 59 seconds.
- A reportable crash occurred every 57 seconds.
