U.S Auto Safety Regulators Investigate 1.1 Million Dodge Ram 1500 Pickup Trucks

Over 1.1 million Dodge Ram 1500 pick up trucks are currently under investigation due to faulty steering.

The Investigation

According to Reuters, The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has received 380 reports alleging intermittent or complete loss of power steering assistance in 2013-2016 model year Dodge Ram 1500 pickup trucks. This led the U.S. auto safety regulators to launch an intensive investigation of the claims.

Many reports included drivers being forced to deal with serious safety issues and having to pay for expensive repairs, sometimes having to wait extended periods of time to receive proper repair.

Incidents Reported

  • 3 crashes have been reported.
  • Owner of a 2014 Dodge Ram 1500 was navigating a busy California highway at around 55 miles per hour when their steering wheel suddenly became immobile.
  • Another driver reported having to drive into a ditch to avoid further injuries, causing minor damages to the front end of the vehicle.
