TerraTrike has recently recalled approximately 450 adult tricycles due to the risk of crash and injury hazards.
In the recent voluntary recall, TerraTrike worked with the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) to discover the torque sensor inside the wheel can activate at random intervals which may cause the vehicle to power forwards, posing the risk of injury.
CPSC urges consumers to immediately stop using the recalled tricycles and return them for a proper speed sensor installation free of charge, and a software update. No injuries regarding the recall have been reported at this time.
The products were by authorized TerraTrike dealers, and independent bicycle specialty stores nationwide, as well as online. These trikes were sold from August 2017 through October 1, 2018, for about $3,500.
