According to the Austin American-Statesmen, Olivia Gruwell, 21, has been charged with intoxication manslaughter and failure to stop and render aid following a crash in which she struck and killed a moped rider.
The crash occurred at the intersection of 34th Street and Red River Street around 3 am Friday. An affidavit said the woman left the scene of the fatal accident unknowingly dragging the deceased man’s moped all the way back to her home.
Gruwell admitted to having “six to nine mixed alcoholic beverages” before driving home. She said she “felt a bump” as she was driving home and thought she had hit a raccoon or a possum.
