Jetson Electric Bikes Recalls Self-Balancing Scooters After Multiple Deaths
Jetson Electric Bikes has recalled 53,000 42-volt Jetson Rogue self-balancing scooters and hoverboards, as they pose a fire hazard.
About the Jetson Electric Bikes Self-Balancing Scooter and Hoverboard Recalls
According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), the lithium-ion battery packs in the self-balancing scooters and hoverboards can overheat, leading to multiple safety concerns, including products catching fire, smoking, and even exploding.
There have been multiple reports of Jetson Electric Bikes hoverboards burning, melting, and flames starting due to product overheating. As of now, there have been two deaths and smoke inhalation injuries reported due to a house fire that was caused by the products malfunctioning.
The self-balancing scooters were being sold at Target stores nationwide and online at www.target.com from August 2018 to June 2019, and at www.ridejetson.com from January 2019 to November 2021, with prices ranging from $100 to $150.
Consumers are urged to immediately cease using and recharging the product and to contact the recalling company to return the products for a full refund.
