New Information Released in Fatal Crosby Collision

Authorities have released new information concerning a violent head-on collision that killed two boys on Thursday, citing careless driving as the cause of the accident.

New Details Concerning Fatal Accident

According to KHOU, Harris County authorities are citing careless driving by a teenager as the cause of a fatal auto accident in Houston that claimed the lives of two young brothers Thursday evening.

Around 6:30 pm, 19-year-old Lyle Buckner was attempting to pass another vehicle on Beaumont Highway when he slammed into an oncoming SUV that was carrying a mother and her two children.

The two brothers, 11-year-old Brian Figley and 6-year-old Andrew Figley, were both killed in the collision. Their mother, Laura Figley, was transported to Memorial Hermann hospital in Houston with two broken arms and a broken leg.

Buckner remains hospitalized – it is unclear if he will face any charges.

Children’s Father Recalls the Night of the Accident

“And my question was, ‘Where are my kids? And they couldn’t answer me.” – Raymond Figley as reported by KHOU

In an interview with KHOU, the boys’ father, Raymond Figley, recalled the events that followed the deadly crash. He received a call from deputies informing him that his ex-wife had been involved in a violent collision, but the officials did not comment on his children. “And my question was, ‘Where are my kids? And they couldn’t answer me,” Figley told KHOU.

It was then that Figley checked for new reports on his phone. “I clicked on [the news app] and it said ‘2 dead in Crosby crash.” Upon arriving to the scene of the crash, he found that his two boys were dead. He then headed to Memorial Hermann Hospital to inform his ex-wife of their children’s deaths.

A neighbor of the Figleys’, Kathy Stafford, was on the Highway when the collision occurred, though she was not aware of the Figleys involvement at the time.

“A black car when in and around all the cars and I remember thinking, that’s why they call this Die-way 90,” said Stafford. That black car later collided with the Figleys’ SUV.
